WARRIORS WOLFPACK MARATHON 2022 – 10 SEPTEMBER 2022
The inaugural marathon took place 18 September 2021, and we were the very first “live” start line – gun to gun marathon in South Africa. We hosted fields for 42.2km, 32km, 21km and 10km runs. Our participants were ecstatic to finally be on the road and enjoy a real event. We managed the ‘impossible’ and put our marathon together in just 5 weeks once the go ahead had come through from Limpopo Athletics Association. No mean feat as the planning and execution that usually takes months, was expedited. We had runners from as far as Bloemfontein participating.
Attached hereto is a letter of thanks and recommendation from the Limpopo Athletics Road Running Commission commending our organisation and execution of the 2021 Marathon.
This year the rules and regulations have been relaxed and our runners are already asking when we open entries. We are confident that we will have more than 1000 runners as this is still a Comrades Qualifier for 2023!
The sheer joy of seeing runners training is an inspiration to us all - they are truly a resilient bunch. The world-renowned Comrades Marathon have postponed their June 2022 marathon to 28 August 2022. This is most fortunate for us as many athletes will not be able to participate and will seek out marathons to qualify for the 2023 Comrades!
As an early September race, the Warriors Wolfpack Marathon is a recognised Comrades Qualifier of 42.2km, along with a 32km and 21km run. It is an officially timed course. Our start of 5h30am will give runners the added advantage of cool weather.
Our marathon begins at the renowned Merensky High School at the entrance to Tzaneen with a lovely winding route followed by some undulating hills with exquisite scenery around the now bursting Tzaneen Dam. A circuit will lead runners back to the Merensky High School as their finish. Already enthusiasm has traction as it is one of the first actual marathons to take place since the implementation of lockdown. Our route will attest to good qualifying times and better seedings for their next Comrades.
We require the assistance of a major sponsor going forward as a stake in their commitment of giving back to the community. There are many other sponsorship opportunities for financial donations of any amount.
The Warriors foundation is the catalyst for change and upliftment, to provide deserving, underprivileged students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, emotional intelligence and to facilitate personal empowerment. The foundation will actively seek out the most deserving recipients of bursaries and scholarships, to provide them with the opportunities to develop the leadership skills needed for them to succeed. We are committed to helping these students find their place in the world and aim to develop global citizens who will become future leaders in an ever-challenging world.
The Warriors foundation is a fantastic opportunity for organisations to use as a vehicle to support their own corporate social responsibility projects. It has been proven that organisations that have a strong culture of making a difference and that play a role in community upliftment, have more motivated staff, and create a strong emotional connection with their clients which ultimately leads to better business and more profitability. Consumers, employees, and stakeholders prioritize CSR when choosing a brand or company, and they are holding corporations accountable for effecting social change with their business beliefs, practices, and profits. https://www.warriorsfoundation.org.za

The Warriors Wolfpack Marathon has already been earmarked as an important and necessary annual event for our local runners, and surrounding areas. Looking ahead, many of whom are unable to travel the long distances to Marathons such as the Kaapsehoop, Johnson Crane, DeLoittes, should these open soon. The 42.2km marathon is a Comrades Marathon qualifying event, on our doorstep, for runners.
Sponsorships of any amount are welcome. Naming of the event will depend on negotiation of one or more major sponsors.
Please do not hesitate to contact me during or after hours to discuss the above or any other possibilities of support.
Kind regards
